Toolkit for engaging the private sector in National Adaptation Plans (NAPs)

This toolkit supports countries in developing strategies to engage private sector actors in the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process. It aligns with the NAP Technical Guidelines (2012) by the UNFCCC’s Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG). The toolkit is a guiding resource, offering flexible approaches to engage the private sector in relevant phases of the NAP process, depending on national or local contexts. It encourages discretion on where private sector engagement is beneficial, such as in adaptation prioritization and financing, while recognizing areas where it may not be necessary. By involving the private sector in adaptation planning and implementation, the toolkit aims to enhance governments' capacity to address climate change impacts and build resilience.
