Natural Capital Protocol

Resource Summary

The Natural Capital Protocol is a decision-making framework that enables organisations to identify, measure and value their direct and indirect impacts and dependencies on natural capital. Understanding the complex and dynamic relationships that organisations have with the health of natural assets and the ecosystem services they provide enables organisations to make more informed decisions. This ‘capitals approach’ can be used to help organisations to deliver benefits to their employees, society, the broader economy and the natural world alongside their businesses. Alongside the protocol itself, Capitals Coalition developed a number of sector specific guides and supplements (forest products, apparel, food and beverage, finance) as well as training material to support organisations to implement the framework.
